Our company was founded in 1942 by Robert "Bob" Lammott in Richmond, Indiana. Originally, the company serviced "camp car" septic tanks of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, and Bob Lammott journeyed for many miles throughout Ohio and Indiana to reach the railroad cars. In 1945, he moved the company to Long Lake in the Three Rivers, Michigan, area while keeping the word "Richmond" in the company's name.
Bob's sons, Bobby and Walt, helped with the business, installing septic systems and pumping them. There are still many older systems in the Three Rivers area that have a metal cap on their septic tank emblazoned with our company's logo, name and slogan — "Don't fuss — call us."
In 1979, Bob's grandson, Allen, joined the company and learned the ins and outs of the trade.
Bob passed away in 1984, and since then, Allen has worked diligently to offer the same great septic service while Bob's wife, Ona, handled office duties and phone calls. In 1985, Allen Lammott married wife Kim, and they raised two daughters: Sarah and Emma, Ona and Kim began to share office duties.
In 1993, the company incorporated portable toilet rentals into the business, beginning with eight units. It added a pickup truck featuring a removable 400-gallon septic pumping tank.
In 2006, Sarah Lammott became the first member of the family's fourth generation to be involved with the business. Working part time, she ran the routes for the portable toilet rental portion of the business in the summer. In 2008, the company became officially incorporated (it had been a sole proprietorship previously).
In 2012, we celebrated 70 years and four generations.
